Since we are rebuilding Celestial City we are running a poll for the next 7 days. those options are, do we start over with a clean slate, or continue the stories we have been running. Vote here.

Feel I should clarify to avoid fears or confusion.

Clean Slate means that the original CC was destroyed in a world ending event. And the survivors are beginning in a new city. Whether your characters stay the same is entirely up to you.

I voted clean slate. We could vote on -why- it ended, be it the ais that made shiva or artisans clearing up loose end, ot the radiation shield failing and forced migration ( as most cannot survive the wastelands). It makes sense. The construction would be new, and not identical. It would be more of an ass pull that it was the same city. And clean slate gives villains a fresh chance, as well as others a chance to step up.

I agree with butterfly, it would be hard to explain it being the same city if it is not the same build... if new city same universe is what you are suggesting i say clean slate. could shake things up with the power structure and raise a lot of new story lines and ideas

Keep the same factions and stuff, but maybe redo the entire build of the sim, compact, not so many apartment buildings! The Train was never used... But keep the tunnels! Upgrade the sewers so its not just a version of Tony Hawk Pro Skater (Lol), i mean nothing wrong with tony hawk... Also maybe make an underground city! The ruins were great! but lets make it more focused on the actual City ya know? Maybe make a section on sim that is the Ruins of the old CC? A tiny part for like scavenger rps and stuff? As for the Apocolypse event that took place i got ideas!

The tunnels make sense as if they were deep enough so the radiation wouldn't penetrate the rock.

If we're sticking with the superhero sim, I see no reason to not go full Final Double Secret Crisis on this and do a partial reboot.

Say Godlike Entity number 23 decided to reset the timeline and now Celestial City is a nice futuristic city in a perfectly nice 2019(ish) Earth... which doesn't have Supers until a bunch of yahoos from another reality crashland and kickstart the whole thing.

Yeah there are years of work put into character application approvals. I am all for rebooting the arc as it was super confusing an convoluted anyway, but definitely don't reboot all the characters.

A soft reboot never hurts :) Realities all got destroyed once, could be a Ragnarok cycle thing that destroyed the city this time around, reform it under a different set of universal principles or something. People could reboot or continue on with the characters they have, just new possibilities is always fun!

Think the idea of the survivors of the previous CC finding a new place is a good one. I'm not super active though so...you all do you, just my 2 cents. People would be pissed if we killed all their characters but not so much if we just had a new locale.

As one of the original founders, here's my two cents...

One of the reasons I never returned for long was because I lost track of the storyline. When I did come back, I felt a little out of place, like I was missing something. In "rebooting" the story, I'd suggest trying to keep it simple, or find a way to keep the story from straying too far from the main storyline. And reserve major changes to everyone's individual storyline, and not the world. Sure, the world can be threatened, destroyed even, but it gets saved in the end. Everything returns to normal.

One of my biggest problems was the sheer number of groups in the sim. I'd hear someone mention a group, and I'd be, "Huh?" If we have groups, whether they are crime, crimefighting, or otherwise, they should be shown somewhere. Landing zone? Maybe even somewhere near there.

So what to do for the reboot? Let's do the time warp (again)!

A time lord shows up, announcing the world is disintegrating. The only way to save it is to take all the people and return them back to the Earth prior to Shiva's "world ending" plan. All the universes would be returned to normal, including ours, with a caveat. The old world has a bunch of new heroes/villains from the not-too-distant future, thanks to a portal from the time lord. Now we just need "the Doctor"...

Seems like most people who have spoken here are in favor of keeping the history but not the city. I think that makes the most sense. It also flexibility to keep what should be kept, what players on the sim invested their time in, but discarding stuff that didn't work. I've been debating coming back for a while now, but I've been struggling to think of how to bring characters back, explaining their absence, etc. I'm sure there are others like me and Diannah who lost track of all the politics of the sim. A soft reboot may help encourage new characters and plots.

I've been out a while, but this sounds like the best option to me
